The hotel opened its doors in 1962 under the name of Hotel da Baleeira and, with its bold architecture for the time, attracted a new clientele to the then almost unknown town of Sagres. It quickly gained a reputation as one of the best hotels in the Algarve due to the quality of its service and its breathtaking sea views. In 2007, it reopened completely renovated, reclassified with 4 stars and under the memmo Unforgettable Hotels brand.
The memmo Baleeira Hotel offers stunning views of the sea, Baleeira harbour and the Martinhal Islands. The hotel has a contemporary and relaxed atmosphere and currently has a total of 145 rooms, including 39 suites.
The hotel is located on Sagres' main street, close to restaurants, bars and pubs. It is in the centre of town and about 200 metres from Martinhal Beach. The hotel is surrounded by magnificent beaches. The Sagres Fortress is about 1.5 kilometres away and is Portugal's most important historical landmark from the 15th century. Cape St Vincent is just 7 kilometres away and has the largest lighthouse in Europe. The city of Lagos is approximately 30 kilometres away.
